Residents of University and Kays Hall have been experiencing parking space unavailability since the beginning of the fall semester, but officials are discussing their options to change that. Between 40 and 50 residents have been parking on the grass behind the dorms all semester.

Four bachelor's degrees, one master's and a doctorate are not enough to keep 84-year-old Jean Popejoy Floyd away from the classroom. Floyd, who will turn 85 on Halloween, has been going to college since the 1940s and is currently taking Audio Production in ASU's radio-tv department.

Caraway gravesite recognized with spot on historic list
A longtime resident of Jonesboro and the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, Hattie Caraway was recognized earlier this month when her gravesite in Oaklawn Cemetery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nominated by the Jonesboro Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries Department, the gravesite was one of 25 sites added to the list.


Cafeteria heads SGA agenda

John Nickel, ASU Dining Services General Manager for Sodexho, spoke to the SGA Tuesday on issues concerning the food court. He began by telling the company history globally and at ASU. The contract between ASU and Sodexho started in 2000 and is good for 10 years.

Gun shots reported from Collegiate Park The Herald has received numerous reports that up to eight gun shots were fired from around Collegiate Park just after midnight Wednesday morning. University and Jonesboro police responded to the scene, but did not discover any evidence of firings.
