The Student Government Association recently approved a resolution to prevent student access to Facebook, MySpace and YouTube Web sites on all Dean B. Ellis library computers the weeks before and during finals. The computers in the first floor computer lab would be excluded from those with restricted access.

Let me begin this article by first congratulating the president-elect, Mr. Barack Obama. His is a victory that Americans can be proud of for its historical implications. Regardless of whether you voted for Obama, we all should support our new president because he will be dealing with problems that have implications for all of us.

I am amazed at the overwhelming amount of international students we have here on campus. This semester alone, I have met young adults from countries varying from Sri Lanka, China, Turkey, Nepal and Vietnam. I, for one, could not be more thankful for the decision on Arkansas State's part to welcome 400 new students from all over the world.

To the Editor of the Herald, I am a faculty member writing in response to the recent story proposing a ban on access to YouTube, Facebook and MySpace. As a faculty member, you might suppose me to be in favor of this, but I am categorically opposed for several reasons.
