Students salute Obama for naming Sen. Clinton new Secretary of State

The once bitter rivals now team mates? President-elect Barack Obama announced Monday his nomination for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, to serve as Secretary of State. As Secretary of State, Clinton will be the highest-ranking diplomat in the United States.


Hurricane victims in Haiti to get relief from A-State

The National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) is currently collecting food, water, clothing and money for hurricane survivors in Haiti. The NABSW hopes to help Haiti recover from four natural disasters that hit the country in August and September.


C-SPAN bus makes stop in Jonesboro

Logging more than 5,000 hours of campaign coverage since the beginning of the 2008 Presidential Campaign, the C-SPAN campaign bus made a stop by ASU Wednesday afternoon. C-SPAN gave bus tours and described the bus' purpose to both students and faculty. The bus, which is one of two campaign buses owned by C-SPAN, traveled all over the country to cover political events such as the Iowa Caucus and the Democratic National Convention.


SGA plans "Home for the Holidays"

ASU's Student Government Association decided to jump start "Home for the Holidays" this year. "Home for the Holidays allows current student senators to go to their hometown high schools and inform the students about ASU," SGA Vice President Quan Poole said.


Students struggle with tuition

As most Americans are struggling to make ends meet during the current economic crisis, many ASU students also are struggling to pay for the many costs of school. According to the ASU Web site, tuition can cost an Arkansas resident close to $200 per credit hour to attend.
