Student returns to school to be closer to his kids, gain knowledge

Most students come to ASU straight out of high school and finish their degrees within four years. However, there is a large community at ASU of non-traditional students who are returning to school after years away from school and many times with families to raise.

Local heavy-metal band "Thirty 2 Life" released their second album, "Got One in the Chamber," on Oct. 31.
The band features local musicians Michael Adams (vocals, guitar and keyboard), Dennis Hardy (bass), Joshua Lynn (drums) and Brian Greenway (guitar).
"Thirty 2 Life" is not your typical four-piece rock band.

10. Get advised Always meet with your advisor, even after you no longer have to. Keep in communication with them so that you do not get behind or confused about your path to a successful academic career at ASU. Be sure to ask your advisor any questions you may have concerning anything to do with registering for classes.

Marina Engelbrecht, Student Wellness Coordinator at ASU, saw a need on the campus last spring. Why were students so unhealthy? What was the cause of such an obese campus? Could anything be done?
"We wanted to try to offer something for students to learn more about nutrition, exercise, and get an idea on how to live healthy lives," she said.
