Kindness lacking in society

Writer encourages people to treat others as they would like to be treated
When did people stop following the golden rule: treat others as you wish to be treated? The little courtesies that used to be common practice have diminished to the point that we no longer know what to do with the kindness of a stranger. When someone holds the door open, maybe some of us are so confused that we forget to say thank you.


People schedule lives around TV programs

'Is it healthy that Americans shape such a big part of their lives around this television?' 
Everyone loves a good TV show, but how much is too much?  Some young adults shape their daily schedules around a broadcasting station's lineup. As a kid, I was dead set on watching every episode of a Saturday morning cartoon called "Digimon," which is not to be confused with the more popular "Pokemon.


Our View: Be Cooperative

The recent efforts to gather information on the alleged rape on campus have brought to light an important issue for The Herald. We would like to urge university administrators to realize that the campus newspaper is here to inform students of what goes on across this campus.


This week in stAte history

On March 6, 1948, The Herald reported that two Arkansas State College fraternities had affiliated with national organizations. Zeta Tau Zeta became affiliated with the national Sigma Pi Fraternity on March 1, after being accepted and formally pledged to the organization.
