ASU signs agreement with Chinese university
ASU expanded globalization efforts by signing 12 memorandum of understanding with Beijing Normal University in China during a reception Friday morning. Four delegates from BNU's Zhuhai campus, Guangju Chen, president of BNU Zhuhai; Ailan Fu, vice president of BNU Zhuhai, David Wang, director of BNU's international office (Zhuhai) and Dai Wei, director of University Development Office attended the reception.

ROTC hosts military ball
The ASU ROTC Red Wolf Battalion held its annual Military Ball in the National Guard Armory Friday. Friday night was a special occasion for the cadets of ASU ROTC's Red Wolf Battalion. It isn't often that they have the opportunity to don their pressed, forest-green Class A dress uniforms, or floor-length formal dresses for the female cadets, and mingle with alumni of the ROTC program and other distinguished guests.


Initial suspect descriptions spark discussion among faculty

The description given on fliers posted on campus after the recent sexual assault generated discussion among faculty about a long-standing societal issue: racial profiling. "Racial profiling is using a general characteristic as an increase in probability that someone has committed a crime," explained Michael Botts, assistant professor of criminology.

Most people know that a census is taken to gather information about a our nation organized by states, counties, and cities in terms of socioeconomic and demographic data, but many do not realize its importance.

The law is currently one of the signature laws left by the Bush administration. "Under these guidelines, schools that achieve excellence or show real progress will be rewarded, and local districts will be encouraged to commit to change in schools that are clearly letting their students down," Obama said.
