The auction, which was held at Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, was intended to allow sports collectors be bidders as they auctioned off Alfred Beardsley, another fellow sports collecter's, memorabilia. However, upon Simpson's arrival, the auction had an interesting twist of events.
The collectibles included autographed sports memorabilia, a Hall of Fame certificate, a photograph with former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and a video of Simpson's first wedding. Police said at one point these items were likely in Simpson's possession, but as far as who has rightful ownership of them now is not known.
Simpson was to be booked on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm, police said.
In 1994, Simpson pleaded not guilty when he was charged with murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, as well as, her dear friend Ronald Goldman. Tabloids labeled it " The O.J. Simpson Trial" and covered it daily. Eventually, Simpson was acquitted of murder charges but was found liable in a wrongful death civil trial.
At the age of sixty, Simpson could face a long awaited jail sentence. Some Americans say, this is too little too late, but they would prefer to see him go to jail now than to see him roam freely. Will Simpson ever do jail time for all the wrongdoings he has committed?
