Student arrested for controlled substance possession

ASU student Jordan Niccolle Emerson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance on campus. Emerson was found in the Fine Arts building parking lot with a pair of scissors in her hand. According to the officer, Emerson was unable to keep her balance and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. When asked by the officer for identification, she yelled, stating, "They just called you cause they were mad I took their parking space." A small black capped bottle of marijuana, a red and blue match box containing seeds and small pieces of burnt wrapping paper filled with marijuana, a bottle of Phenergan containing five pills and a green bottle of zolpidem tartrate prescribed to other individuals were found in Emerson's belongings. Emerson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct and was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Cherelle Love was arrested for criminal trespassing on campus. Love had been previously banned from entering the campus. She was arrested in the dining area and was transported to the county jail.


January 25

ASU student Latonya Gillespie reported that her text books had been stolen. According to the victim, her introduction to geography, atlas, and American government books were stolen. Gillespie was in the PE building watching a basketball game. Gillespie stated that she placed her books down beside her and someone just picked them up and left. The victim had previously filed a theft report for her other text books. The stolen books are valued at more than $350.
