ASU Basketball player Larry Handy was arrested for DWI on campus. The Police Department received a call in reference to a vehicle that had struck building four of Collegiate Park. Upon arrival, it was observed that a black truck was resting against the rear bumper of a brown jeep in the parking lot. According to an officer, the black truck was still running and the driver appeared to be passed out. An open can and a 30 pack box of Natural Ice beer were found in the vehicle.
Handy stated that he drank some beer when he was in Memphis earlier that night to watch a game. Apparently Handy was driving west bound in the parking lot when he attempted to pull into a parking space, but jumped over the curve and struck the southeast corner of the building. Next, he backed the vehicle up in another attempt to park but then struck the rear of a brown jeep that was parked just north of the space. Handy failed the field sobriety tests and registered .113 on the BAC test. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
