SGA passed the proposal after NorthPark Quad residents requested the additional speed bumps and stop signs due to safety issues.
Sen. Adrian Everett said she has contacted Facilities Management, who will be installing the bumps and signs. She did not have an estimate on the cost.
A shared governance proposal was also approved, Kyle Fulton, the public relations director, said.
"We debated it and approved it in our emergency meeting (held Sept. 10)," Fulton said. "But there was not a formal proposal so all we did was vote to make it formal to have something to give to the president."
The shared governance proposal merges the Academic Governance Oversight Committee and the Institutional Governance Oversight Committee into the Shared Governance Oversight Committee.
According to the resolution, the two committees separate were lengthy and did "not provide a timely access to valid and reliable information."
The association also approved unanimously a proposal to create a 24-hour computer lab and study lounge in the space currently occupied by the Student Fitness Club. The change will occur in 2010 once the Student Fitness Club has relocated to the yet-to-be-built Recreation Center.
The lab and lounge will be open during both fall and spring semesters and would be funded by existing technology fees.
In other news, SGA installed seven freshmen senators after the freshmen election on Tuesday.
The new senators are Madison Fletcher, Megan Fowler, Victoria McFadden, Kayla Paine, Andrew Peters, Sarah Peoples, and Isiah Tatum.
