Issue date: 9/25/08 Section: Entertainment
Before he was nominated for Homecoming king, Michael Creason had never campaigned for anything.
Creason is a junior chemistry major from Pocahontas and was nominated by the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
"I tried to put out some posters - as many as I could anyway," Creason said.
He didn't think he'd actually win.
"I went and bought a new tie just in case something did happen," Creason said.
When the Homecoming king was announced Saturday, Creason said he was shocked when they called his name.
Creason said although it was exciting to win, he didn't know how to act when he realized he had won.
He described himself as expressionless after his name was called.
Creason was surprised again when a watch was presented to him from the university.
As the 2008 Homecoming king, Creason hopes to represent the university as best as he can.
Creason already has experience in representing ASU, by being involved in various school organizations.
Creason is a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, works as an admissions ambassador, where he gives campus tours to prospective students, is one of five students on the Student Union Advisory Council and is a member of the American Chemical Society.
After graduating from ASU, Creason wants to be a physical therapist.

Well, it's about time that one of us Chem majors got something. I designed and supervised the construction of the winning homecoming display in 1967, but I didn't get anything but a new trophy for Lambda Chi Alpha. (Continued…)
