SGA plans "Home for the Holidays"

ASU's Student Government Association decided to jump start "Home for the Holidays" this year.
"Home for the Holidays allows current student senators to go to their hometown high schools and inform the students about ASU," SGA Vice President Quan Poole said.
This event is a recruiting tool sponsored by SGA and the Office of Admissions.
"It gives the students a more 'down to earth' feel when students they may know come to inform them rather than an admission's recruiter," Poole said.
Currently SGA senators and staff are the only participants in Home for the Holidays.
"They basically volunteered and submitted their hometown high schools," Poole said. Those who are interested in volunteering to participate can contact SGA President Ryan Beaird or Poole.
The student who goes to his or her high school is in control of the actual date for the event, but it will all take place during Christmas Break. The only thing the student has to do is first submit their hometown high school to SGA, then get permission for a time and date with the high school's administration.
Poole isn't quite sure when the event Home for the Holidays first originated.
He said, "SGA has always been a part of the event. We feel it is important because it helps with recruiting and advertising the university to high school students from ASU's students."
The recruiting counselors don't always get to visit every school in the state, so it makes it easier for the senators to submit their hometown's high school and present information to them.
"Our recruiting counselors work very hard, but it's better for the high school students to gain a better understanding of an ASU student's experiences on campus," Poole said.
