Lobos Rojos had a good turn out at the grand openng Thursday.

The grand opening for the food court's Lobos Rojos, which means Red Wolves in Spanish, was held Thursday and the new concept received continuous lines throughout the day.

Lobos Rojos was a big hit, despite some negative comments about the salsa, which was given out as free samples Thursday. Students and faculty are enjoying the new addition to ASU.

"The new food court looks better," said Jeremy Ragsdell, a sophomore biology major from O'Kean. "It seems more accessible."

Others agreed.

"It's bigger and won't get crowded as fast," said Ashley Miller, a sophomore early childhood education major from Pine Bluff.

Bill Morton, a freshman radiological science major from Beebe, said, "It opens up a lot more space."

Students also commented on Lobos Rojos, which was unveiled Thursday.

"It's nice to have another option in the food court," said Jessica Bailey, a sophomore biology major from Walnut Ridge. "Before we just had sandwiches."

Most employees were neutral about their new area. A few had some suggestions.

"It would have been better if we had gotten new things," Kim Rogers, a cook, said.

Others said they needed to get used to the new space.

"Anytime you go to something new you have to get everything put away and get all the quirks worked out," Deena Bordell, a cashier, said. "Other than that, it's nice."

One worker, who refused to go on record for fear of losing his or her job, said that the workers' feeling were not considered when administration decided to move the food court.

"So far, student and staff seem to be taking to it very well," said Amanda Douglas, Sodexo campus services marketing manager,

afternoon. "The new food court has been popular and Lobos Rojos was very popular yesterday."

A prize wheel was available and gave students the opportunity to win coupons for Lobos Rojos.

Miss Dragon, a burro borrowed from ASU's petting zoo, was brought in to entertain as well.

The burro named, Miss Dragon was available for students to take pictures with from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Student Union plaza by the Chi Omega Fountain.

Ryan Beaird, SGA president, and Kimberly Winchester, SGA vice president, participated in the ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Thursday and Rick Stripling, vice chancellor of student affairs, said a few words about the new food court.
