Issue date: 2/11/10 Section: Opinion
The alcohol resolution policy has prompted some concern about how to party at ASU.
Drinking, if you are of the appropriate legal age, can be a fun social activity, but those who engage in it should be cautious.
The number one thing to remember when enjoying alcoholic beverages is that you are responsible for you.
Be aware of the danger alcohol poisoning presents and remember that binge drinking now could lead to health problems in the future.
Pace yourself when drinking and know your personal limits.
Make plans to stay where the party is or have a designated driver on hand.
In general, keep private parties private. Authorities can and do arrest individuals for public drunkenness. Getting in trouble while intoxicated could damage your academic record as well.
Be safe around others when drinking.
Don't let a stranger hand you a beer. Get your own drinks to ensure that all you're consuming is alcohol.
Alcohol can lead to a good time, but don't let things get out of hand. Safety comes first, so take personal responsibility for your actions before saying "bottoms up."
